Christian Worldview
The Christian worldviews subject is fully accredited through the ACT and will be taught at two levels:
- The Degree level (PE 310)
- The Graduate Diploma level (PE 510)
Passing the subject can normally count towards the completion of a degree or graduate diploma at any Australian institution where there is provision for student electives.
The subject will be taught using lecture notes provided on a CD, with hyperlinks to video clips, diagrams, a Bible program and a specialised dictionary. Class discussion will take place by means of a Bulletin Board, where students will deal with questions raised by the lecturer and the students themselves. The two levels, degree and graduate diploma, will work together except for some further discussions by the graduate students based on additional readings.
The course will deal with:
- The nature of worldviews
- Examples of worldviews (e.g. Naturalism, New Age, Buddhism, Islamism)
- The development of a Christian worldview
- The application of Christian worldview thinking
Students will be expected to study 24 lessons (two lessons a week), to participate weekly in the Bulletin Board, and to complete assignments based on required readings. A final exam will be given at the end of the course.
The full cost for the course is as follows:
| Degree, PE310: | $660 |
| Grad. Dip., PE510: | $740 |
| Without accreditation: | $350 |
Students are required to enrol by July 3rd, 2006 (late enrolments will be considered if there is room for more). Classes will begin on July 10th. Two weeks holidays will be observed from Sept. 18-29 (the teacher will be absent, but students can use the time for assignments), and classes will end Oct. 20th. The final exam will be given around the beginning of November, as arranged with students.
The course will be taught by Dr Bill Berends of the RTC. For further information he can be contacted at bberends@rtc.vic.edu.au
